I was inspired when I went to go see my cousin perform this song at her concert. She was in a symphony this summer, I'm so proud of her! Anyways this song is actually by a Russian composer and the song is just so beautifully entoxicating. I always wanted to do a ball fanfic but I could never pick a song so my cousin told me to pick this one and when I heard them play I knew she was right, I just had to pick this song. Anyways enjoy.

                          .........................

You were the daughter of a very important figure in Soviet Russia and you lived in the very capital of the Soviet Union, Moscow. You originally lived in (country) but your father got a job opportunity to work as a aid for Iosif Vissarionovich Stalin (Joseph Stalin) and help lead him to victory with his industrial revolution. The year was 1948 and you were living a wealthy life with your mother and father.

You weren't too sad about having to leave (country) since you were to be married off to a man you didn't love, luckily the move prevented that from happening since you were still too young.  You were currently having a lesson from your very strict tutor Ms.Reshetilov, dance is very important in Russia so it was important you knew how to dance so she was currently teaching you how to waltz.

There was a ball being held for many important Soviet Union figured, your father included. Your mother made sure you get extra attention since you were turning 18 in a few months so she wanted to see if she could get you engaged. And what better way to do that then at a ball filled with powerful, important, and rich men she thought. Your lesson was finally over and now it was time to get tailored for a gown.

A woman showed up and she started measuring every inch of your body and she even went as far as too see what colors matched you best. After a few minutes she finished and left saying your gown would be done in within a week. You finally got time to yourself and you decided to go and get time to yourself. As you were walking to your room your mother appeared and said she wanted a word with you.

You groaned and walked towards her to go speak in the parlour. You sat down across from your mother and she eyed you up and down. "Now, now (f/n) sit straight." You did as you were told and even fixed the bottom of your dress. She smiled and stared at you a bit until she spoke. "Your father and I wanted to speak with you, it seems he will be running a few minutes late."

You sighed and frowned. "Father is always late or busy." Your mother frowned a bit and she got up and sat next to you and embraced you. "I know, but you need to understand he is a important man afterall. Tell you what, I will find a way to make him squeeze in some time in the day to see you okay?" You nodded and knew it would be too good to be true, it wouldn't happen.

"I'm sorry I had paperwork I needed to turn in today. But I'm done now." You got up and walked to your father and hugged him. "Hello father, I'm glad I got to see you." He patted your head and sat across from you with your mother next to him. "Now that father is here, what is it we need to talk about." They smiled and your mother grabbed your fathers hand.

"Well (f/n) we know you won't like it, but you are turning 18 soon so we wanted to let you know that at the ball there will be many suitors. Normally the parents pick but we can't decide between them so there will be 7 young men for you to pick." Your (e/c) grew wide. Sure you still had to marry one of the 7 but still you got to chose. "Young men? Or are they older?"

Your dad laughed a bit. "(F/n) I wouldn't let you marry some disgusting old man, I'm not that harsh." You smiled a bit. At least they won't be old. "Thank you papa, it is late and I am tired from my lessons. May I be excused?" Your mother and father nodded glad you didn't take it as bad as they thought you would. "Of course, goodnight (f/n) we love you."

You nodded and smiled. "Goodnight, love you both as well." With that you walked over to your room and got dressed in your nightgown and hugged your pillow. You were trying to accept the fact that you were going to get married, leave your parents, and most likely bare children. You weren't necessarily looking forward to it.

                           ........................

It was the day of the ball and your mother was practically squeezing the life out of you while she was tying on your corset. "Mother why must I wear a corset, and wear this gown? Hardly any women use corsets and wear gowns this big anymore. Why can't I just wear a girdle?" She only tightened it with her strong grip making you lose your breath.

"Done! And stop complaining, I told you it is a ball and they are going with Victorian clothing only, plus we need to impress your suitors so please. Best manners, act like a lady, dance elegantly, and pay attention and at least try to meet the suitors. Please remember one will be your husband so get to know them."

You rubbed your waist and tried to get used to breathing in a corset. You were so used to girdles but they were no where near as tight as these. Your mom pulled out a puffy petticoat with many ruffles and made you put it on. She then pulled out your dress and made you out it on. Once she was done you examined the dress it was big and there it was (f/c) with a big bow on the waist.

There were different patterns of realistic looking (flower)s and a matching hair clip with the same (flower)on it.  Your mom curled your (h/l)(h/c) hair and picked up some of it with the clip. You were young and pretty so she didn't bother to put make up on you. She looked at you and handed you one of her necklaces with a silver design and vibrant jewels along with a matching bracelet.

"But mother, these are so expencisve. And they are yours" she smiled and arranged them. "A gift, after all by tonight you will be engaged." You felt your heart break a bit but you knew you didn't have a choice. "Thank you mother." Your mom made a frown and hugged you. "You grew up so fast, my little girl. One day your learning how to walk the next, your going to be engaged."

There was a nock at the door and your dad peeked his head in. "The chauffeur is here, my my you both look stunning." You smiled and your father held out his arm for your mother to link with. You smiled and took a deep breath. "If mother and father are so happy and they were in a arranged marriage I'm sure I can be happy as well." You walked out the door and got into the black Moskvitch 401.

Time skip~

Your heart was beating a mile a minute, I mean what girl wouldn't. You were about to meet six possible husbands and by the end of the night you had to pick one. Your father and mother walked you into a giant elegant building. Your eyes widened at realisation at where you were, you were at the Grand Kremlin Palace. The palace was huge and the roof was green while the building was white with gold accents.

Your house was elegant but it was no where near as beautiful as the palace. Every guest was lead to the Andreevsky hall. There was a live orchestra performing and the music playing was suited for waltzing. People of high authority filled the room, you were glad you were not overdressed for every woman wore Victorian dresses and men wore black tailcoats, along with vests and top hats.

The hall was white with gold accents, the white pillars were full of golden designs going down to the very detail. Golden chandeliers hung from the ceiling and there was areas painted peacock blue that was the same colors as the curtains. The floor was no doubt polished and gave of a shine and was different shades of brown and was filled with different designs.

"This hall is amazing, everything about it gives off a vibe of elegance and luxury. Everyone is dressed as they would have in over a century ago." Your mother called and snapped you out of your thoughts. "(F/n) these dashing young men would like to have a word with you." She smiled and you couldn't help but blush no doubt they were quite the lookers.

"Hello, I am (f/n), (f/n) (l/n)." A albino man immediately took your gloved hand and kissed it. "Hallo I am Gilbert Beilschmidt." He had silver hair and these hypnotising red eyes, you blushed and nodded and he grinned. "Funny, this man has a German accent. Yet after Hitler broke the contract Germans usually didn't come near Russia." You kept your comments to yourself and looked next to Gilbert.

There was a man with green/blue eyes wearing glasses and he had brownish blond hair. He grabbed your hand and did the same as Gilbert. "I am Eduard von Bock, it's a pleasure to meet you." You nodded and each man did the same kissed your hand and introduced themselves. You met another shorter man that kept stuttering and he had blond hair and violet eyes overall you thought he was cute his name was Raivis Galante.

Next you met a man with shoulder length brown hair and dark blue eyes, he was polite but still seemed a bit nervous. His name was Toris Laurinaitis, after him was a shy man who seemed to be losing his confidence little by little. He had shoulder length blond hair and green eyes he went by the name Feliks Łukasiewicz and he seemed a bit feminine, but you ignored it.

After you met a cheerful young man with a accent you couldn't quite place, his name was Tino Väinämöinen and he had chocolate brown eyes and blond hair. You couldn't help but blush here you were in front of six handsome men and you had to pick one too marry. The atmosphere was tense and they were all clearly fighting for your attention.

"Wait 6? Wasn't there support to be seven men?" There was a sound of a throat clearing behind you and you turned and saw a man in a military outfit. "So you are the daughter from the (l/n) I presume?" You nodded and when he kissed your hands you got chills, he smiled and stood straight. "My name is Vasily Stalin" your (e/c) eyes grew a bit wide.

"The son of Joseph Stalin is one of my suitors?!" You freaked out a bit, surely you must have been expected to pick him over the rest. "I see these men are your suitors? Well why not forget them and add me to the list. I'm sure you would rather marry me." "So he is not my seventh suitor?" You felt your stomach turn and you opened your mouth to speak until a young woman hugged Vasily.

"Where were you? You promised dad you would dance with me." He groaned and only stayed tehre. "I'm sorry Svetlana but can you not see I am busy?" You could here the irritation in his voice. Suddenly you there was a hand on Vasily's shoulder and you could have sworn you felt the temperature drop. "Why don't you go give that dance you promised your sister."

There stood a tall man with silver hair and he had a childish yet creepy grin. He was wearing a black military uniform with gold trim. He had a cross of some sort in the middle under his neck and there were gold buttons. There was also some golden and silver rope like decorations going up to his shoulder. He opened his eyes and you could see his violet orbs glaring into Vasily.

Vasily looked a bit frightened and understood the mans death threat. He and turned to you and kissed your hand once more. "I'm sorry, perhaps another day. I must go." You nodded and bid him a farewell and rubbed your hand on your dress as you made a disgusted face. You looked up and the mysterious man smiled at you, "hello little one I am Ivan Braginski I'm sorry I'm late, I ran into some.....trouble

He smiled at the last word and you got chills and so did the other 6 suitors. You the realised that they were all wearing some sort of military uniform. "I was wondering instead of wearing tail coats or suits why are all of you in military uniforms?" Your father approached you and smiled. "They are all important figures from different parts of the Soviet Union."

Great not only where you forced into marriage but with very powerful men. You nodded and your father talked a bit and left leaving you alone with the 7 men. You got to know 6 of them. Gilbert kept flirting with you and had a huge ego. Eduard was smart and knew what he was doing. Ravis was still a bit shy but sweet, and Toris was polite and nervous. Actually the three of them kept quivering.

Eventually Feliks wasn't as shy and he oppened up a bit more and you noticed he was feminine yet he had this strong vibe about him. The puzzle was Ivan he would just stand there examine them make a few comments and smile. Suddenly all 6 men squeaked and made excuses and walked away, Ivan gave them a death glare that you didn't notice so you were a bit confused.

"May I have the honour of this dance?" You looked towards Ivan and he had his arm stretched out. You smiled and took it, he was handsome that you would not deny but you still had to figure him out. You took his hand and he pulled you towards the area where people were dancing. As soon as you two stepped on the song stopped and a new one began to play it was shostakovich jazz suite no 2.

The song was ominous and hypnotising, you moved along and waltzed with Ivan. The musicians played with emotion and the song sounded dangerous and beautiful. You looked into his violet eyes that seemed to be boring into your (e/c) eyes. He smiled a bit and your cheeks warmed up, you began to get lost in the dance letting your body move along with the music.

The conductor began to get lost in the music directing the musicians when they reached the grazioso. The song sounded elegant and your waltz began to get a bit more lively. You stared into Ivan's eyes and for some reason you felt something telling you to pick him. You realised the song was like Ivan, it was ominous and there was something about the song hypnotising you while you were lost in his eyes.

It was also elegant just like the way he danced and dressed. Eventually the song went back to its original beat sounding dark again and you were hoping it wouldn't end. When the song ended you snapped out of your trance and smiled sheepishly. He smiled back and escorted you away from the area of dancing. "Is something wrong?" You looked up and shook your head.

"No actually, I had fun." He smiled and nodded, "me too. So (f/n) what do you want to do?" You shrugged a bit and turned to face him. "Maybe we could talk a bit?" He nodded and the both of you talked for a hour at least and you got to know him. He was childish yet cruel, he spoke to you about many things and you felt as if you knew him. "(F/n) may I have a word with you?"

You turned and saw your mother and you nodded. "I'm sorry Ivan I will be right back. I won't take too long." He nodded and you walked over to your mom that was smiling deviously. "So, I see you took a liking to Ivan?" You blushed and nodded. Your mom smiled and hugged you, "I'm glad you got along with someone, see it's not that bad."
You nodded and she smiled.

"Okay now seal the deal, tell him you picked him because it's quite late." You looked at the clock and saw it was 10:57P.M. "I will, wish me luck mother." You walked over to Ivan and tapped his shoulder, "ah, (f/n) you came back." You nodded and tried to hide your blush but it was no use you were flustered. "I-Ivan may I talk t-to you?" He nodded and completely faced you.

"Well, as you k-know....I am going t-to be coming of age. And I h-had to pick a suitor. And I....um....I w-well I picked, you." He smiled and you looked away and refused to look him in the eyes. He tilted your chin up to face him and he looked into your (e/c) eyes. "I'm glad you picked me, now I don't have to make the others disappear." He smiled and you giggled.

"That's a good one." He stopped smiling and it became awkward. He kissed your cheek and let go of your chin. "I will see that the preparations get made. Goodbye (f/n), I will stop by tomorrow." You nodded and he walked away and you held your cheek while trying to get a hold on your blush. Your mom pulled you out of the palace and you guys drove home.

"I take it you had fun" you nodded and your dad chuckled, "You know just because you chose him doesn't mean I accepted to give away my only daughter." You looked at him and he hugged you. "My little girl grew up....I don't want you to leave. Why couldn't you have just stayed little?" He ruffled your hair and you started crying. "Why are you crying I'm sorry, don't cry."

You pouted and turned away. "You guys want me to get married when I don't want to and now that I'm engaged you don't want me to go? Who understands you." He laughed and hugged you. "It's complicated"

                              ...................

"And that's how I met your papa" the little boys (e/c) tinkled and he tilted his head silver strands falling to the side. "But grandpa said he didn't want you to get married" you nodded and looked towards Ivan or who you later found out was the personification of Russia. "Yes, but grandpa didn't have a choice because wether he said yes or no your mama would become one with me." And he started to kol.

You face palmed and your son nodded. "So I have to force someone to marry me?" Your (e/c) eyes grew wide. "No! Don't listen to your papa. Tell you what these are new times so we decided when you grow up you get to chose who you want to marry." Your little boy smiled and you ruffled his hair. "Okay, oh yeah if your my mama." He points to you. "And he's my papa" he points to Russia. "Then why does he say become one with Mother Russia?"

You shrugged and stood up. "I don't know your papa is a bit strange now come on time for suppe-" you were cut off by the door banging loudly and violently. "Big brother I came to visit!" Russia began to quiver in fear and he began to barricade the front door. "Tetya Belarus is here!" Your son ran to the door and Russia grabbed him to keep him from opening the door. Not that you minded, she was still trying to kill you."
Okay guys here's some Russia because he's gorgeous and funny. Anyways.....this does take place during the Soviet Union. I'm a bit rusty on my history so tell me if something is incorrect. Anyways I made sure the time fit and dates. So the suitors as you know the baltics and Russia were a part of the Soviet Union. Part of Poland was also conquered and when Prussia crumbled parts were part of the Soviet Union. A part of Finland was taken over by Russia as well that's why he's there. Vasily and Svetlana were actually children of George Stallin. The palace is real and gorgeous look it up. The Moskvitch 401 was actually a Russian car used for military purposes or just luxury and produced in 1945. The composer Dmitri Dmitriyevich Shostakovich was a Soviet Russian composer and pianist that did live during this time. So the song is here as I said my cousin performed it with a orchestra as well so here it is youtu.be/ZYhZVqODYsI it truly is a beautiful, ominous and addicting song. Sorry I know I have to do othe stories but I really loved writing this and had fun. I got AP history and found out about a project the day it was due so I got a week to read the book and answer the questions so I will be gone a while. Well guy hope you had fun.
